How words are counted
A word is any run of letters or numbers between spaces or punctuation. For Arabic, diacritics (tashkeel) and the tatweel stretch character (ـ) are ignored, so كَتَبَ and كتب count as the same single word. Reading time uses about 180 words per minute for Arabic and 230 for English.
Character limits at a glance
- X (Twitter): 280 characters per post
- Google Ads: 30-character headlines, 90-character descriptions
- Google search results: titles show about 60 characters, descriptions about 155
- Instagram caption: 2,200 · LinkedIn post: 3,000 · TikTok caption: 4,000
Frequently Asked Questions
How are Arabic words counted?
Diacritics (tashkeel) and the tatweel character are ignored, so كَتَبَ and كتب count as the same single word.
Do spaces count as characters?
Platform limits such as X and Google Ads count spaces, so the main character count includes them. The “No spaces” figure is shown separately.
Is my text saved anywhere?
No. Counting happens entirely in your browser; your text is never uploaded.
